Where to travel in April 2027 from Singapore
April 2027 has no public holiday, but it's the last month of the season for Langkawi, Phuket and Taipei, and the first of Bali's. What fits an ordinary weekend, what's worth a day of leave, and why April is when to ask for May's leave.
No public holiday, four ordinary weekends
The Good Friday weekend ends on Sunday 28 March, and the next public holiday, Labour Day, falls on Saturday 1 May, so it gives most people no extra day (what a Saturday holiday gets you). After that comes Hari Raya Haji on Mon 17 May. In between, April has four ordinary weekends, starting on Saturday 3, 10, 17 and 24 April, and no school holidays.
So the April question is how much leave a trip is worth. A Friday off turns any of those weekends into three days, enough for a short flight. Thursday and Friday make four, enough for the longer ones.

Phuket’s rainy season starts in May, and its next best months begin in November. Langkawi slips to OK in May and isn’t at its best again until December. Taipei’s spring ends with April, and its autumn season starts in October. Langkawi and Phuket are worth one day of leave for a three-day weekend; Taipei, 4h 35m away by air, is a four-day trip.
Songkran in Phuket and Bangkok
Thailand’s New Year, Songkran, falls on 13 to 15 April, Tuesday to Thursday in 2027, and the Thai government sometimes adds days around it. It’s a national holiday with water fights in the streets, so expect busier flights and hotels that week, in Phuket and in Bangkok. If you want the festival, book early and pack for getting soaked; if you don’t, pick another weekend. Bangkok is OK rather than at its best in April.
Bali’s season starts
Bali’s best months run from April to October, so April is the first. It’s 2h 35m away by air, so it’s a three-day trip at minimum: a weekend with the Friday off.

April is also a quiet month for Indonesia’s own holidays. Its government’s 2027 list has none in April, while May has four public holidays and two collective leave days (joint ministerial decree, signed 15 September 2026). If you’re choosing between an April weekend and the May holiday week for Bali, Batam or Bintan, April will be the calmer of the two.

Batam and Bintan have been back in season since March, and Johor Bahru works as a day trip. Kuala Lumpur is the one place we cover that’s in its rainy season in April. Its best months come back in June.

Penang, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Melaka are OK in April, but not at their best. Kuala Lumpur is the only one in its rainy season.

May 2027 has the best leave deal of the year. Hari Raya Haji is Monday 17 May and Vesak Day is Thursday 20 May, so three days of leave fill the gaps for nine days off:
