Where to travel in June 2027 from Singapore
June 2027 has no public holiday, but the school holidays run from 29 May to 27 June. Where's in season for a family trip, how much leave a week away takes, when Johor's children go back to school, and the National Day leave to ask for now.
A month of school holidays, and no public holiday
Singapore has no public holiday in June 2027, so a trip takes leave, but it doesn’t take much to cover a week. Any Monday to Friday of the school holidays is five days of leave for nine days off, the first week included:
- F28Friday, 28 May: workday
- S29Saturday, 29 May: weekend
- S30Sunday, 30 May: weekend
- M31Monday, 31 May: take leave
- T1Tuesday, 1 June: take leave
- W2Wednesday, 2 June: take leave
- T3Thursday, 3 June: take leave
- F4Friday, 4 June: take leave
- S5Saturday, 5 June: weekend
- S6Sunday, 6 June: weekend
- M7Monday, 7 June: workday
Covering the whole break would take 20 days of leave for 30 days off, so most families pick a week. The Hari Raya Haji and Vesak week, which ends on Sunday 23 May, is cheaper for adults, three days of leave for nine days off, but schools are open on those three days.
Our Causeway jam outlook has the crossing heavy on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 May as families head out, busy for the four weeks after, and heavy again on Sunday 27 June coming back.
Close to home: five weekend trips in season
Five of June’s seven places at their best need no more than a weekend:
| Destination | Getting there | Min. trip | Budget | Best months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Johor Bahru Malaysia | Train 5 min from Woodlands (KTM Shuttle Tebrau, RTS Link from Feb 2027) | 1 day | $$$ | Jan–Oct |
| Batam Indonesia | Ferry 1h from HarbourFront or Tanah Merah | 2 days | $$$ | Mar–Oct |
| Bintan Indonesia | Ferry 1h from Tanah Merah | 2 days | $$$ | Mar–Oct |
| Kuala Lumpur Malaysia | Flight 1h from Changi | 2 days | $$$ | Jan–Feb, Jun–Aug |
| Melaka Malaysia | Coach 4h from several SG pick-up points | 2 days | $$$ | Jan–Mar, Jun–Aug |
Kuala Lumpur and Melaka are the ones that turn in June. Both were only OK in May, and both are at their best from June to August:
- January: Best
- February: Best
- March: OK
- April: Wet
- May: OK
- June: Best
- July: Best
- August: Best
- September: OK
- October: Wet

Johor’s long weekend, then its school return
Johor Bahru is the easy day trip, with Legoland Malaysia and Desaru a short drive on. Two things in Johor’s calendar change how busy it is:
- Saturday 5 to Tuesday 8 June is a Johor long weekend. Awal Muharram falls on Sunday 6 June and the Agong’s birthday on Monday 7 June, so the replacement day for Awal Muharram is expected on Tuesday 8 June (Johor confirms its list in December). The Causeway is busier from Friday 4 to Tuesday 8 June.
- Johor’s schools go back after Sunday 6 June. Their break started on Saturday 15 May, with Hari Raya Haji, and ran straight into the mid-year holidays, so from then on Malaysian children are back in school while Singapore’s have three weeks left. Weekdays in the second half of June are likely the quieter time for JB’s attractions.
A week away: Bali and Da Nang
For a longer flight, both are at their best in June:
| Destination | Getting there | Min. trip | Budget | Best months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bali Indonesia | Flight 2h 35m from Changi | 3 days | $$$ | Apr–Oct |
| Da Nang & Hoi An Vietnam | Flight 2h 45m from Changi | 4 days | $$$ | Feb–Aug |
Bali’s best months run from April to October, and Da Nang’s from February to August, so June is the middle of the season for both. Indonesia has two holidays in June, Pancasila Day on Tuesday 1 June and the Islamic New Year on Sunday 6 June (joint ministerial decree), but no collective leave days around them.
Where’s in season
Seven of our 14 destinations are at their best in June:
| Destination | Getting there | Min. trip | Budget | Best months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Johor Bahru Malaysia | Train 5 min from Woodlands (KTM Shuttle Tebrau, RTS Link from Feb 2027) | 1 day | $$$ | Jan–Oct |
| Batam Indonesia | Ferry 1h from HarbourFront or Tanah Merah | 2 days | $$$ | Mar–Oct |
| Bintan Indonesia | Ferry 1h from Tanah Merah | 2 days | $$$ | Mar–Oct |
| Kuala Lumpur Malaysia | Flight 1h from Changi | 2 days | $$$ | Jan–Feb, Jun–Aug |
| Bali Indonesia | Flight 2h 35m from Changi | 3 days | $$$ | Apr–Oct |
| Da Nang & Hoi An Vietnam | Flight 2h 45m from Changi | 4 days | $$$ | Feb–Aug |
| Melaka Malaysia | Coach 4h from several SG pick-up points | 2 days | $$$ | Jan–Mar, Jun–Aug |
Langkawi, Penang, Phuket and Bangkok are OK in June, not at their best. Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong and Taipei are in their rainy season, so they’re better left for later in the year.
June is for booking August
National Day, Monday 9 August, is the next long weekend. It’s three days off for free, and four days of leave after it make nine, Saturday 7 to Sunday 15 August. By our six-weeks-ahead rule, ask by Sat 19 Jun:
| Long weekend | Apply by | Leave for the best trade | Calendar |
|---|---|---|---|
| National Day Sat 7 – Sun 15 Aug 2027 | Sat 19 Jun 2027 | Tue 10 Aug, Wed 11 Aug, Thu 12 Aug, Fri 13 Aug 4 leave → 9 days off | .ics |
"Apply by" is 6 weeks before the earliest leave day you might take for that weekend. Each calendar file adds the weekend plus a reminder on that date.
